LASIK Eye Surgery’s Treatment

July 07, 2016 0
LASIK is a surgical procedure intended to reduce a person's dependency on glasses or contact lenses. After the laser reshapes the cornea, the flap is then laid back in place, covering the area where the corneal tissue was removed. Then the cornea is allowed to heal naturally. Laser eye surgery like Femtosecond Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery requires only topical anaesthetic drops, and no bandages or stitches are required. There are many issues which can be treated with the laser eye operation.

Farsightedness can be treated with laser eye operation. Eye Doctors make the cornea steeper by removing tissue outside of the central zone of the cornea. This shifts the point of focus from beyond the retina to directly on the retina. To treat nearsightedness, tissue is removed from the central zone of the cornea. This shifts the point of focus from in front of the retina to directly on the retina. Often nearsightedness or farsightedness is accompanied by astigmatism, which can be treated simultaneously by making the cornea more spherical. Excimer lasers also can correct astigmatism by smoothing an irregular cornea into a more normal shape. It is a misconception that LASIK cannot treat astigmatism.

There are various advantages of LASIK surgeries like Blade Free Cataract Surgery. For starters, the LASIK technique takes less than 30 minutes to perform and is very effective. The technical advancements incorporated in the LASIK technique eliminates the clinically significant risks leading to visual impairment after a refractive surgery. Most surveys show that 92-98% of people who undergo the surgery are satisfied with the results. Though chance of complications occurring is less than 5%, check with your consultant that they have outlined all the risks. Most people are back at work within a few days to a week.

Eye Care
We offer Pediatric Eye Care for children with vision problems, no matter how simple or complex. We specialize in treating cataracts in babies and children, traumatic eye injuries, juvenile glaucoma and a variety of other conditions.  It is important to note that with vision, children are not just little adults. They present unique problems in communication and cooperation for physicians. Our pediatric ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and opticians are specially trained and equipped to diagnose and treat each child.

Orthoptists are specialists in evaluating and treating ocular muscle imbalances and amblyopia for the best possible pediatric eye care. Children often require muscle exercise therapy and/or patching therapy to develop or regain appropriate vision, binocular tracking, and control. Our orthoptic clinic is busy each day training patients to improve their eye alignment and control with prisms and exercises. Utilizing these therapies can often prevent the need for surgery or glasses.
